Over 80% of women victims of violence have never reported abusers

The immaturity of our society and individuals continues to show how many often pay no attention to the ubiquity of violence against women. In order to raise awareness of this problem, provide specialist support, stimulate individual and institutional responses to this phenomenon, the Global Analytics- Social Research Center through activities under the project “React when violence extinguish love” under the sponsorship of the Ecumenical Women Initiative – EWI, in order to educate and empower women and girls victims of violence.

In this regard, a workshop of educational character was held at the premises of the KUK student club on Friday, which aimed to raise the level of knowledge of women, mechanisms of protection of rights and the role of women in family and society, as well as recognizing signs when a partner begins to engage in violent tendencies, teaching women and girls how to react and prevent them from becoming victims of violence. The workshop was conceptually divided into two modules, where the educator first wanted to raise the awareness of the workshop participants on the unacceptable and necessary zero tolerance of all forms of violence against women and girls/girls including family violence as well as empowering participants to demonstrate to the Victims of violence that they are not alone and abandoned.

As part of the Global Analytics project activities, the research on violence against women in our society was carried out, and this is where we point out the results that imply how much girls/women in our society understand the importance of reporting violence, and how many victims of violence have trust in justice and institutional assistance. According to the results of the survey, almost 47% (or rather 46.7%) of the respondents experienced some form of violence, 81.2% of them never reported the violence to the institutions, while only 18.2% of the respondents reported the violence they endured.

Participants were not only girls and women who wanted to educate themselves about their rights, as well as violence against women, but also women who have suffered violence for years from their spouses and their fathers. The violence that the participants in the workshops were exposed was mostly of physical character, which is closely related to economic and psychological violence while confirming that even after ten years of ending violence continue to carry traumas, and that this has affected their attitude with future partners.
