Center for social research Global Analitika with the support by the United States Embassy in Bosnia and Herzegovina, is implementing a project called NO EXTREMISM. As part of the project activities, we are organizing a summer camp called “United Against Extremism” in the period from 27 to 31 August in the Egyptian village (children’s home) in Mostar.
The Summer Camp “United Against Extremism” started with a press conference held on August 27 at 12.00 am in the Egyptian village in Mostar, where athletes gathered to jointly with children and youth send a unique message NO to EXTREMISM.
This camp is one of the most massive camps for young people in Bosnia and Herzegovina this year, and the special value of this camp is that children and young people with or without disabilities from all over Bosnia and Herzegovina are included. The goal is for the participants to spend five days together with well-known athletes playing football, basketball and practicing karate. In addition to the sports section of the camp, children will have the opportunity to spend time in the workshops where they will learn about sports values, friendship, healthy nutrition, inclusion, mental health, tolerance, peace, the importance of respecting differences and diversity.
What makes this project unique is the fact that this is the first example in the region where contribution of sports is linked to the prevention of extremism and the phenomenon associated with violence. The added value of preventive activities of this project is precisely that children and young people will have the opportunity to learn from their role models – well-known athletes who promote their positive values with their personal examples and the past a long way to the stars. Global Analitika is particularly proud of the fact that this camp will be host a great number of children with disabilities, as well as the athletes with disabilities, who demonstrate by their own example courage and the importance of sports.
So far, our project has been supported by a large number of athletes such as Milica Deura, Marica Gajic, Dzanan Muse, Mesud Pezer, Amel Mekic, Elvir Sendro, Denis Agovic, Mustafa Mujce Mehic, Ilma Kazazic, Adem Redzovic, Nijaz Memic, Abedin Mujezinovic, Azra Dedic, and many others. Many of them will join the children and youth at this summer camp.
